Improving Healthcare

December 1, 2023

Healthcare field is one of the most exciting frontiers.

Today we have an environment where patient needs are climbing, yet the levels of resources and reimbursement payouts are shrinking. Leadership in the healthcare field is even more essential.

Healthcare today, must focus on the needs of patients and strive to improve turnaround time, contain costs, reduce, all, while increasing speed of delivery and reducing medical errors.

Leadership goals must be to focus on improving the quality of patient care.

While no performance data exists on local hospitals the World Health Organization has said, “medical errors in healthcare affect up to 10% of all patients”. And, “at any one period of time 1.4 million people suffer from hospital acquired infections.”

Quality health services cannot consider eliminating people or eliminating healthcare assets. As a practical matter, leadership in health sciences must first shoulder the burden of improving activities and processes within the delivery system. This is best accomplished by improving activities and processes by utilizing a systems approach.

Through focusing on patient value-based activities and with a systems engineering approach, healthcare organizations should be able to make swift strides towards meeting patient needs and financial stability.
